Here's a Maverick from the Silver Springs, FL, '05 Car Show. Notice the shaved door handles, roof drip rail, tail panel, and boomerangs. Lots of work.. It received Best of Show and took first place in Maverick/Comet category.

Okay, humor me with the answer to this(as I know nothing pretaining to all this custom work) How do you go about shaving the handles? And then, after you do...How do you get in??...I know ya'll want to laugh, but try to hold it in for a couple of seconds while ya'll reply...

First you need a really sharp razor and lots of soap....well really you go into the dor panel, unhook the outer handle. you then cut out the section of metal where the handle was bolted in...replace it with a solid patch.spot weld it in.take your time so not to warp the metal by getting it too hot. after that you grind down the welds.smooth, add just enough filler to cover, sand, sand, sand....did I say sand and prime and paint. most folks add a switch or solinoid and a door popper to open the doors. you can still open them from inside. but adding the solinoid which comes with a remote like a alarm does. push the buttom, the popper pushs the door open. Thats a rough answer, some of my more learned colleges may have a clearer thought...Jim
