So it started out with a buddy of ours with a 58 Chevy pickup (shudder) that has spent the last 4 years restoring… wanted us to show up at a County show to benefit March of Dimes along side him… so, okay… come Friday, we’re both getting over the flu, and maybe having a relapse… finally get the gumption up to clean her up for a show, detailing and all… the next morning pack her up for the show, turn the key… and… NOTHING… no CLICK, nothing… tho the stereo is playing, interior lights, but NO CLICK… what????? Mighty Husband, Rocky, decided to grab the Mighty Tool (the hammer) and hit the battery, then solenoid and asked the Mighty Wife to hit the key…VAROOM. Sheesh, we’re on our way to the show! Never had that happen before (mental note: new solenoid tomorrow). (Another mental note: take the hammer to show, alongside fire extinguisher.)

At the show, numerous comments – all awesome (at least what we could hear). And, the best part was the stories that it generated… like “my uncle had one of those, man they could hook up”… and another, when “he was in the Army in Germany said he had a buddy that had one and they used to hook up with the BMW’s on the back roads… as soon as there was a straight-way, the Mav blew by them, and they’d spend the next couple curves trying to gain, and then the Mav would take them in the straight-way again.” He also said they aren’t used to hearing a “real engine” (BA, BAA, BA, BAAA), versus “ (WEEEEEE-Ummmmm)…too funny! Turned out, he was the one that announced us as a winner as Judges Choice, tho he wasn’t a judge. Called us a “sleeper”, LOL. Not yet, upgrade going on. Too funny.

Other funny thing was there was an awesome Duster (sorry again, Mopar) 440 6-pack, 440 6-pack written all over the car and engine… and someone walked up and asked the guy “is it a 318?” Er, “Here’s Your Sign”. It turned out to be Fireman’s Choice, and rightfully so. Nice car.

So the awards going on in the beginning, were for Special Stuff (Lady’s Choice, Firemean’ Choice, Worst Tires, Longest Traveled, etc., etc.) then they got to the ACTUAL Judges’ Choice… 16 out of maybe 100 or so.

So anyway, we’re proud of the attention she got today, too kewl! We got 1 out of 16 Judges’ Trophy’s out of 100 or so cars. We were in awe. :dance:Pictures to come.

Thank you... I've got to tell you, when I heard "76 Maverick", I went into tunnel vision, like "parting the seas"...and folks giving the congrats aong the way..., it was swesome. Rather nor not yet an award, just hearing the stories, and awakening the folks seeing us... it's all worth it.

Congrats!:thumbs2: To me, the best part about taking our Mavericks to car shows is listening to all the cool stories people tell. It's really fun watching folks take a trip down memory road.:)
