I have always loved the look of the gas cap on the outside back left of a car like the cobras and chargers. Anyone ever done this to there maverick? Any input? I basically got it figured out, i just need the metal and a welder
Our cars dont have a flat top to the quarter like those. I think it would be kind of goofy on the side of the quarter. I have to assume your thinking our stock position.
I believe that the Cobra filler cap you're showing here is pretty big - 5 1/2 inches in diameter, if my memory serves me right. That might be o.k. for a custom application where you install it somewhere other than the stock position, but it would be too big to put between the taillights. I bought the one shown in the following link a few years ago. It is 2 3/4 inches in diameter, and will replace my stock cap in the original mounting place. As you can see if you explore the link, these guys offer authentic Aston fuel filler caps in a number of sizes. I hope this helps. Good luck. http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p1765/ASTON-FUEL-FILLER-CAP-2-3/4-ALLOY/product_info.html
The cap in my picture above is 4" in diameter. It's an old Eelco part from the 60's, been on my car since '72. You see them from time to time on ebay.
