I am about 200-300 rpm away from what I want at the big end with the 28 inchers in the back, so this winter I am thinking of purchasing some 26 inch tires..........is there any down side to the shorter tire?
I am assuming there is not, but it does not hurt to ask.

Just like doing a gear swap. I spent all summer trying to find some 26" tires for my rig. I'm sure there's at least a tenth or two to be had there.
The difference is close to going from 4.11 gears to 4.40 gears.
here's a link with an mph calculator to mess with.

Thats what I was figuring with the smaller tires(y)

After I did all my math, with my set-up a 4.33 gear seems to be what I need, but I really do not want to spent the $$$ on another set of gears and I need tires anyway:rolleyes: . So I figured that(tires) would be my "gear swap".
Just was wondering about the loss of sidewall height, as far as launching(tire wrinkle) and also stability loss at the big end with the smaller tire.
Also:oops: if anyone has done this did they change air pressure very much from the bigger tire to the smaller. I know that what works for one might not work for another......just doing some checking.
    Thanks :)

Steven Moore (cometGT1974) runs 26" (by 10.5 I think) tires with great success.

I wonder were he`s been lately?

Going to a shorter tire will likely hurt 60' ETs, which translates into a loss of ET later on as well (unless you can make it up downtrack). Shorter tires have less contact with the track than taller ones. That's why most of the 10.5 class cars have 31" or I think I have even seen 33"x10.5-15's.

    true 28x10.5" tire....REALLY fast. 7.86/180 1/4.
