Should I bother

    My daily driver is a 1970 maverick
    Ive got a solid running 2.8 that i hope to 1 day swap for a v8, in the mean time, im looking for some guts outta what i got. Ive kicked around new carb and and exhaust. Any other brite ideas? Will it be worth the time or money?

    My opinion is it's not worth it. You'll end up spending money that could be spent on the v8 swap. :)

    Besides 302, what cars/motors should I be looking to? Trans? This is my first ford. I know nothing about them.

    What is a 2.8 a 170? The easy v8 motor to put in is the 302.

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Find a good 68 to 72 302 (good compression ratio to start) or a roller 302 out of a mustang...As for trans,do you want an automatic or stick?

    ya could go ahead with a nice c-4 with a shift kit. Do an electronic ignition. And a gear. Im sure it would feel like it has a 100 more hp.

    if it's a 170, i would think all this would be a waste of money and time....

    ...and at that, it wouldn't feel like it has 100 HP...
    ...much less a 100 more...

    Agreed. It takes a nice chunk of change to really make a 6 run well, and people who do it, do it because they like the 6 cylinders and doing something different. If you are wanting to do a V8 swap anyway, then it would just be money wasted that could go towards swapping the 8 in. Just cruise it as is for the time being.
