just a quick question about side mirrors on the comets and gt's.

i have a 74 comet with a chrome side mirror, just on the drivers side. I know the 74 GT had sport mirrors (as did all the gt's i think).

anywoo my question is wether the 74 comet gt had sport mirrors on both sides, or just the driver's side. and do they make after market sport mirror, or is the junkyard my only hope to find it/them?

    thnks

    Both...

....GT's had them on both sides. I am not sure about Grabbers-maybe the early ones did not have sport mirrors? '69 Boss 302's did not have sport
    mirrors initially.

My '74 Grabber had them on both sides. What's strange is my standard non Grabber '72 Maverick had just one sport mirror on the driver's side. Appears to be factory that way although the doors may not be original since they have a diffrent key then the ignition.

I may be wrong but I believe that all the cars that came with sport mirrors had them on both sides...Mavericks and Comets. I see them on eBay quite often and have seen them go for as little as $15 each and as high as $75 each. Just depends on who's wanting them at the time and how bad they want em.There may be a few members that have a set they will sell if you want to advertise in the parts wanted section. Good luck

I are several 1970 Grabbers in my registry with only one sport mirror and I have others in my registry that have both. No rhyme or reason.

Hmmm...guess we just keep on learning more about these cars all the time, huh. One day, we're gonna be experts. I guess I better be the first one to write a book with all these facts!!!

    Just a side note fwiw:

If a given model car came with sport mirrors, but the specific car recieved special order paint, then the car either came with chrome mirrors, or black sport mirrors... no body color and no choice as to which it had.
The sport mirrors were painted long before the assembly line, and were only painted the basic colors available that year. If someone ordered an available, but optional paint, the mirrors were not painted in optional colors... Therefore they either slapped on chrome or, if they were handy, black sport mirrors.
This is probably what happened to the Boss 302s mentioned earlier.
I have seen several high line Stangs (Machs and such) that should have had sport mirrors, but only had a single chrome because of the color. Looks goofy.

Where can you get a new or reproduction chrome one. I need one also? Same as Mustang?
