The yellow Maverick has the standard bumper extension in the front, which is factory painted silver. I don't like the look, not sure why Ford painted them silver... trying to blend in with the chrome bumpers? Anyway, what's your thoughts on painting them? I'm considering either body color (yellow), but wondering if that would bring too much attention to the front end (since yellow is such a bright color) or the other option is painting them black, which would downplay the front bumper area and might add a nice sporty look to the front end (or would it?). Any suggestions? Art
I like the black idea myself. But on the other hand I think that would draw attention the the big bumpers as well. I have a 74 maverick and comet. I am thinking of pushing the bumpers back and doing away with the silver part or most of it.
hmm im kinda having a hard time deciding as well... what color is the grill? if you make that strip black i'd black the grill too those giant chrome benches pertruding off the front and rear off the car draw plenty of attention on their own regaurdless of that strip
look through these pics..... http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/browseimages.php?c=41&userid= there are several big bumpers with either grey or body color. Its a tough call on a big bumper car for me.
My yellow 75 had that part in yellow. I never paid it any attention, so guess it's no wonder, but I have never seen them silver like that. I should say I've never noticed them silver. I just took for granted that they were all body color. That said, I would do body color. It doesn't highlight the bumper like what you have there, or like what I would imagine black would too. My .02
Paint the area under the grill black to match the grill.Run the black out to the contour line.Paint the rest Yellow. Two toning the gravel guard will make it appear smaller by blending it in with the black grill.Cha ching $.02.Good luck.
