So on my 70s 302....its been sitting in my garage for 4yrs now and id like to clean it up before I use in in the mav.

It ran perfect in my 70f100. I will be putting on new intake gasket...oil pan gasket....oil pump...water pump.

Id like to pull the heads off and put on new head gaskets too and learn a little more than I do.

Ive taken many engines apart in my teen years but never put the internals back together.

When putt8ng the heads back on...how do I correctly set the push rod/rocker arms back to spec? Ive read tighten them down to no movement on rods....then torque to 25lbs. These are not rollers of course.

Is this correct and as simple as that? Thanks

If their stock rail type rockers they torque down and use shims to set lifter preload. When disassembled they need to be put back where they came from. Mixing them up can cause wear issues. When they go back together they shouldn't be more than 1/2 turn past zero lash.

Ford has used positive stop/no adj rockers since early '70s, basically tighten down and forget. Unless using locking nuts(not stock), these will back off if not torqued to spec. Pedestal can be shimmed under the rocker stand.

Ok sounds easy enough. One more question. Do I do them 1 cyl at a time starting with #1 up then rotate 90degrees and go in firing order?.....or do them all at once as they sit?

    Do them all at once.
