I am far from putting a trans in the car but i just wanted to ask if anyone has tried to put a six speed in yet. I plan on using fms-m-7003-h, a motorsport trans that i think will work. Car is already modified for T-5, if anyone has made the swap already any pointers would be helpful. :drive:

Some guys on the Stang board have put T56 in their classic cars.
The thing that got me was the amount of work the floorpans needed to fit the 6 speed. Even a 67 Stang that was available with a big block and C6, needed the tranny tunnel totally fabbed up and raised significantly. So it can be inferred that a Maverick would need at least the same extensive modding to fit the T56.

I hope you find someone who has done it, but I haven't heard of it.

Check Stangnet and search T56 on the Classic Forum.

Ratio, my tunnel is already raised i'm just wondering if i will have to raise it more. It would suck to spend $2,600 to find out it cant be done ( lol ) heres a pic of my tunnel. I just hope i wont have to raise it more than what it is, as it sits now it is 3 quarters of an inch higher than a stock tunnel.

Oh no.... The 67 Stang had it's tunnel raised inches! Not fractions of one inch.
Sorry. It was something on the order of 4" raised near the firewall.

    I agree.
If you have it to the state that is shown in the pic, you are in the perfect place to do the mods.
I have owned 2 T56 Z28s and love the double OD.

it wouldn't hurt to shop around and find a nice ebayer, i wonder if they make mock transmissions like the mock blocks...i'll do a little searchin

EDIT: i dont think they make a mock transmission...best bet is just askin a seller on ebay, or just getting the case and bell housing than buying the trans if all works out

If you have a torch, a welder, and a BFH you can make anything work!
