Small bumper conversion Placement of Hole for Bracket Bolts

This might help some people who are installing the small bumpers to their big bumpered cars, this is a diagram of the location for the holes in the front frame to mount the brackets to. I weld a nut the size of the bolt to a heavy washer, then weld that washer flush inside the hole I make in the frame, then grind off the welds and its done.

Have you ever thought of using rivnuts instead of welded nuts/washers?

 

wouldnt know where to find rivnuts that big, plus they wouldnt holdup like a real nut would, IMO. I wouldnt trust em. For me its just easier to make the hole, weld the nut to a washer then weld it all to the frame of the car. But, I have those tools required to do it, not everybody has them.

 

I was just curious if anyone had tried rivnuts as an option. You can get them up to 1/2".
