My 73 blew a tire a while back and destroyed the sidemarker unit completely. The valence is mostly bent back into shape -- but I've still got that hole. On small bumper cars it looks like the sidemarker is in the fender.

So, the question is: can I put a small bumper valence on a big-bumper 1973? I planned on getting patchwork done to the valence and just nixing the side markers anyways, but this seems like it would be so much more cost-effective, since I'm hoping to eventually do a small-bumper conversion in the future anyways.

As always, advice is always appreciated.

The side markers are in the fender part on all models of mavericks and comets from 70 to 77, and yes the small bumper valance will fit on your car. The only difference between small and 73 big bumper valances is that the opening in the 73 is wider than the small bumper ones.

My side markers are in my valence, I'm absolutely sure of it.

Besides that, would this restrict air flow, or otherwise impede upon anything?

Nevermind. I'm also very sure I'm an idiot, and my light IS on my fender.

Here is an example the first pic is a small bumper valance and the second pic is "my rendition" of a 73 valance. The small bumper valances will not hinder air flow and I hope this will help you in your decision.

Cool, thanks a bunch. I'll probably just hold off until I do the small bumper conversion, since I'll have to do the patches anyways.
