I did a search to see what the cause could be but couldn't find much. My problem is that the inside of the car just smells like gas but mostly exhaust. The gas smell isn't as strong. When my driver's side window is open I get a strong whiff of exhaust fumes into the cabin. When I turn on the AC and close the window there is no smell. Any ideas? No major leak that I noted by eyeballing the exhaust manifold.

    thanks

i'd examine the exhause under the dr side door then. usually exhaust smells in the car are the result of rust in the pipes and rust in the floors allowing it to come in, but if it goes away with the window up that shouldnt be an issue. check the pipes and for any broken seals along the way. if you cant eye ball it usually you can hear where its comming from

car running clean? i.e. not to rich. most likely what was just stated, you have some exhaust leaking. could be at the flange as well. loads up right there under the firewall, as for the gas, check the vent hose from the tank up, the canister may not be breathing properly. just a thought.additionally, spray on deoderant is the ultimate leak finder. no im not kidding, try it.

wait, how am I spraying the deodorant? I'm not sure if I have any, I usually go with the whole BO thing, works like a charm! :)

Yea, actually now that you mentioned it, the hose to the canister is disconnected and maybe all that evaporated gas is what's creeping into the cabin. I'll also check and see if there are any leaks around the flanges.

    Thanks guys

I tend to go more with ground up rose petals...a much more attractive smell to cover up fuel smells than deodorant:rofl2:
