Me and a buddie of mine James..member Sprint5.0, have been maverickin for awile now, along with a few others. We always end up talking about all the local mavs/comets that we know of. Over the course of a few years, we have gathered up a few stories and the list has grown. Both of us keep saying we need to make a list and keep it updated with pics and stories. So im going to write all the ones we can think of and add as many pics as i have of each. most of these cars have great stories behind them, some long some short, but almost all of them are located around southwest louisiana and southeast texas. i hope yall enjoy and feel free to add stories too.. this may be long so it'll probably take me a few days to add all of them.
ill start with this most recent one. My uncle calls me up and asks " you have any parts for a comet?" I replied, "depends on the year, but probably." He said, "72 comet gt." Of course im like, " who's is that and why do I not know about it?" He said, " its my buddie... u know that I got my model A frame from!!" I didn't know who he was talking about but i couldnt let this go on. I called him back later to get more info on this car. He told me the guy had had it from back in the day and he had it up north somewhere where the roads were salted....eww.... He wants to keep it but the drivers side is just about rusted beyond repair. My uncle then gave me a vague description of where he was at..which ended with a " you cain't miss it!" later that evening I called this fellow to make sure it was ok to stop by and Me, James, and our wives set out to go find this thing. Its in a place called lebleu settlement, which at night looks like a perfect scene from a horror flick. of course we have no phone reception and can't find the place. We left and drove back to where we could call the guy to get better instructions but he wouldn't answer the phone. Come to find out his house is metal and he has no reception inside. The next day we finally made our way out there. I was a really nice car other than the rust, which in my opinion was repairable. the interior of this car was perfect. and the body was straight other than the rust on the door, fender and qt panel. had a set of edelbrock aluminum heads that he said had be on there for years. also had an unknown high rise alum intake and old school holley. it looked like a cool hot rod someone used to tear the streets up with.. oh yeah it has ac too. ole dude wants 5k for it
This one is Cade's. He bought it from a member on here that I had purchaced my versailles 9 from. Super cool guy! He had a few LARGE dobermans and I remember hearing all of them in his front room. Then looking at James saying," you know the only thing between us and a painful death is a small thin wooden panel door!!!" this car is 100% rust free! working ac, currie aluminum carrier 8 with a detroit locker and 3.25 gears. Also came with a plethora of spare parts. enough to keep this car alive in case of a apocalyptical event. 3 master cyl, 3 sets of cailpers and rotors, 10 sets of shocks 15 carb kits, enough parts too fill the bed and entire back seat of Cade's tundra. oh yeah, did I mention it has a gearvendors overdrive?
