spacers under top shock tower brackets?

    the top mount/shock does not look original at all...no idea what it came off of though or what its for..sure doesn't look good or too sturdy.

    dose look quite flimsy, i have seen sumthin like it before but i cant quite think of what it was or where i saw it at

    ok so i just closed everything and had to go back and look because i was a little curious lol. almost looks like someone cut the top part off of a stock mount and tacked a new top on..then hit home depot for the ready-rod style hex attachments with some longer bolts then in the meantime pulled the shocks off their F-150 and put them in..any pics of the lower shock mount?

    EDIT: that might not be ready rod extenders as spacers...they might even be screwed onto the old stud with rod and a nut going into it and holding it on!

    nope none that i could see, very puzzling setup tho. looks like some sort of make-shift camber adjustment or sumthin

    The Brazilian models had that type of top mount.

    The spacer could be to allow the shock to have more travel, which is sometimes necessary when you use aftermarket shocks not made for these cars.

    The spacers used don't look safe at all, the right way it to make it all out of one piece.

    yeah i noticed the brazil mounts are like the ford falcon and early mustang ones

    Those actually look very clean and nice..looks better then the ones on my comet. wouldn't mind switching mine to a style like that. do falcons/mustangs line up with all our mount holes?

    If you have springs that lower your car then the shocks will not have as much travel as needed, this will allow a shock to be more effective, also in a racing application you could use a longer shock and not lose its effectiveness with the front end lifted. Or like stated it will give you more options on shocks used

    This...........Also, if you've done the UCA mod it will lower the front some and this keeps the shock travel the same....When Shelby originally did the UCA mod on the '65 GT-350's he used Koni shocks which i believe was used on some other car but had the perfect travel without having to use spacers....Good adjustable shock are very limited for these cars...I'm looking to run a pair of Afco's on the front of mine but there is none made specifically for these cars so i have to find one close and that might require different mounting are some spacers to get the right compression and rebound...There are some vintage race Mustangs guys using them...Some put the spacers on the mount on the lower control arm

    I could be wrong about this, but for road racing you really need to be able to change the caster/camber on each track and with different tires/springs......my guess is that they are not running running a standard front suspension and that they are running sometype of strut or modified coilover. The plate looks like you can adjust the caster/camber. This is just a guess because I don't see any
    pictures of the suspension, but to be able to change the caster/camber is almost a must for a road racer.
    Kind of like these that I put on my 97 Mustang Cobra.

    I'm not sure but I think this is the car in question, I think it would have a non stock suspension.
