Does anyone have a photo of the proper installation of the jack and spare tire. My instruction sticker is unreadable. Thanks

69 1/2 and 70 Mavericks have a different picture than later years because they have 1 extra plate to hold the jack in place.

That extra picture I believe shows the jack installation. Where does the jack go on the 1970?

The jack is under the tire with the J-Hook running up thru it.

Jack lays under the tire, with bolt coming up through the middle, then the handle on top of the rim, with the big nut holding it all down.

Really is a neat little system, for this old of a car. Does not rattle, even without carpet back there.

By the way, Craig, where did you get that carpet? Looks great, and just about matches my interior carpet (if I ever get it installed...).

Simon, the "3-tons" is just an estimate...I think it weighs closer to 2.75 tons. But add that to the weight of the spare tire and jack handle...:D

FYI ... if you look at the pictures on the decal ... the jack is supposed to sit on the trunk floor with the rim of the tire holding it in place. The J-Hook is not supposed to pass thru the jack at all ... at least that is how I interpret the picture ...
