Ok, experiencing a little "Brain Freeze" here. Need to know the spark plug wire order on the distribrutor cap on a "73" Comet / 302. I know the cylinder or goes, 15426378 (number 1 starting on right bank nearest radiator...I think, you can verify this also), but what I need to know is: looking at the distributor, starting with the hold down clip (front) as a beginning point, how are the cylinder wires arranged? You can reply to this forum, or email me at: jpleseganich@msn.com with your answer or any web site which will show the distributor set up. Reason for the question: working on my "73" off an on, and went back yesterday, put a new cap on, new rotor, new plugs and wires (done this a million times on other cars), started her up, and she won't idle, and is now back fireing.....so rather than thinking the worst (sucked a valve, carb bad), I thought, H_ll, wonder if I replace those wires correctly...so, need some guidance here, and not afraid (although I figure myself a back yard mechanic) to ask. Appreciate any help, take care....Hey the car is going to an upcoming Swap meet for sale, if any body is interested...Thanks. JPL/Comet

You need to find out where the number one wire plugs in by bringing the #1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke. Once the distributor has been out #1 can be anywhere on the cap.
