Anyone know where I can get a new one? 11 years ago, I installed 3.55 gears in my Maverick (originally had 3.00) and I also replaced the speedometer drive gear in the transmission (C-4) with what I THOUGHT was the correct one. Well 10 years later (I didn't drive it for 6) I discovered that my speedo is off by 5mph. It reads 5mph faster than I am actually travelling, which is great for reducing the chance of speeding tickets but I would rather have it be accurate. Anyone know where I can get the correct speedo gear for the 3.55 rearend ratio??...
you can call CJ Ponyparts at 800-888-6473. If you pick up one of their catalogs, theres a whole chart on what gear you need for your trans & rear set up. But if you run a gear any lower than 3:55's you need a speed reducer and I havent been able to locate a sorce for those yet.
i found a 21Tooth gear worked for me the speedo at 55-65 is very close if its off only + or - 2 mph max tested it with a 01 musttang.. had hard time finding the part number then geting the part orderd it from a ford dealer if i can find the number ill post it i am runing 3.80 gears with 26" tall tires the gear is suppose to be for 4.11 gears with 28" tire is what the guy at the dealership told me he was a old ford guy i called 4 dealerships befor some one new what they was talking about here is a site to help with calc http://www.andthensometoo.com/calc/hp.php
