I've noticed these for sale from time to time and am curious if they came in different colors? All the ones I have seen were black ( the outside rim ) Also did the center horn hub have the Maverick and Comet logos? I ultimately want to get one, but I would really like it to match my saddle interior!
They came with a brushed stainless or black painted spokes. The rims were mostly a foam made to look like stitched leather. Some of the foam wheels had finger grooves. There was also a real stitched leather wheel with finger grooves, very hard to find one of these. All wheels I have even seen are black in color. As for the horn emblem. The stallion style horsehead was used most often and on many different car and truck models. There was also a scroll design. Hope this helps ....
Most of the ones with real horn buttons came with either the Stallion logo or Ford Oval. Both styles shown here: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=87853 I have a leather one on My Maverick and it is noticeably fatter than the standard vinyl ones. I suspect if you were to cut the leather off, it may be a vinyl one underneath. You could buy a standard one and add your leather wrap of choice, through these guys: http://www.wheelskins.com/ Their product is top notch. I am considering one of their wheel skins for my Fairlane.
I have wanted one for a while, and snagged one of jmgford's that he had for sale in the post above. I got it in the mail today, and am VERY happy with it. I have never seen one in person, and now that I have, I realized that the piece of crap Grant wheel I have used for the past 6-7 years is just that....crap.
Put mine on today, and MAN that makes a difference! Looks good, more comfortable on the hands, and easier to turn. It is 15" replacing the Grant 13" one I had on before.
