Today I went to the 2nd annual reunion of the Pocono Drag Lodge just south of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. and this red 70 Maverick really caught my eye just as I got to the old track surface. Before I knew it I was sitting in one of this guy's chairs and learning all about it - It's a local car built in 2003 but I've never seen it on the street before. 302 roller motor, AOD trans, 20 gallon fuel cell, 389 geared 9 inch coil over 4 link rear, glass Grabber hood, tubbed and caged. His future plans are for an R & C MII front end and a REALLY big engine. His name is Lee Malkemes and he used to drive factory backed Super Stocks way back in the day. I mentioned the forum but he's an old timer that doesn't own a computer.
I guess that would catch your eye now wouldnt it?? What a nice clean car. I love the engine bay. No battery, regulator, solenoid etc. Makes me want to clean mine up like that.
He only lifted the trunk lid long enough for me to see the cell after I asked him where the filler cap went - my guess the electrics would be in the trunk also
Its custom made. You make it using two grills. The center of a grabber type grill. And the outter of an early standard grill.
That grill looked so clean that I took this head on photo - I looked really close at it but I couldn't see anywhere where he mated the 2 grills up. It was that nice. I meant to ask but he was busy talking to others by then. I always thought about doing that to my own grill.
