Hi folks! Have a semi-stupid question to ask, maybe someone will answer before I spend some money unnecessarily. I have the leaf springs out of my Mav, and noticed that there are no rubber pads between the axle tube and spring, and the shock plate and the spring. Am I wrong in thinking they should be there, or is that just on those GM thingees??? The book does not show or mention them. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Most of the time they didn't on the "lesser" cars. It's the luxury cars that you find they rubber insulaters for sound and road noises. Ford did use a plastic insulater between the leafs to minamize squeaks. But they aren't a "have to have" item.

RR; thanks for the info. Since car didn't have them to begin with, I am just going to put it back together the way it came apart. Will use rubber bushings vice urethane, for smoother ride and less noise. Thanks again,

    Earl,
I think I might have mentioned to you that I have a piece of 1/16 thick teflon sheet that I could cut up for spacers for your springs. Do think it would work? I also have a piece of 1/8 teflon.

Tony; bring it home and we can fiddle around with it on Sunday. I will have the car back together by then, need to take it around next week and see about putting in A/C. See you Sunday. I will call you tomorrow night.
