I know there is a generic formula for helping pick a stahl converter and I cannot remember what it is,.........I have a 4500 PTC now and I am wondering/thinking would a 5500 help the performance of the car?

Find where the peak torque RPM is, and your optimal stall speed would be 500-1000 rpm lower. If your peak torque occurs at 5500, you'd need a 4500-5000.

That works well with 3 speed & 4 speed autos. If you're using a 2 speed (or single speed LOL) you'll want it real close to peak torque, if not right on it.

At least, that seems to be the going trend, anyway. Then again, what do I know?

    Thanks,
not sure where the peak #'s are at in the rpm....but I am sure that the 4,500 stahl is close........the converter is ready for a rebuild and I was thinking of changing the stahl speed just to see.
    Thanks again.
