Well, I was lucky enough to buy a maverick that had steerhead centered hubcaps. I was wondering how rare/hard to find they are... I like custom rims a lot and I found a pretty cool set that has a blank circle on it's center cap and I was thinking how good a steer head would look in there. But on the other hand if I do get these rims I don't want to chop up my hubcaps to get the caps out if they're hard to find. Plus I plan on owning more mavericks in my lifetime and I'd like them to have custom wheels with the center cap, too. Anyway, how rare are the hubcaps/center caps and does anyone repo them yet?

I would say they are not too hard to find.

Not hard finding one's that look like crap ... :) For some reason the center deteriorated quickly ... since the only good looking ones I have seen were NOS ones ....

I have one that my wife got me for christmas - FROM A CLOCK MAKER. He drilled the center and turned it into a clock.

Yeah, mine look a little grungy in the center.

    It's a joke.

Of all the Maverick hubcaps, these are probably the least popular from what I gather. I have about 6 of them in total - but only a couple still have the center cap. Dan is right when he says they're hard to find with a good center cap. They became brittle quickly and fell out. As far as I know, no one is reproducing them. That's too bad, because I think the center looks good.

Same hub cap was used on 73 Cougars but with a different center.

I sensed there was some fun being poked. I think the cap looks sharp as hell, too. That whole steer head thing is awesome. I was thinking if I couldn't get a decent set to put in the rims I want I could have it etched or something right onto the metal....like just the steer head itself.
