steering column lubricant

    1974 Maverick, FRPP 5.0, AOD, 3.80 equaloc
    what type of lubricant should be used on the steering column bearing (in the steering collar) and the "gear" mechanism for the ignition switch (slides back and forth). The grease in the gears was very "dry" after 40 years! I was thinking white lithium?

    I'd use a silicone lubricant.
