What would happen if I disconnected the wiring harness that goes fro steerig wheel out. I am referring to the one that controls the blinkers and horn. Is anything else on that circuit?

I just replaced mine last month. I have a 3 speed manual on the column.

    Turn Signals
    Hazard lights
    Horn
    Reverse lights too (I think)
    Ignition too

Its a pretty massive set of wires there.

I'm pretty sure ignition is not on there but I could be wrong.

I could be wrong. I just don't remember any wires going down the column after I unplugged the big connector. Unless the ignition wires go down the center of the column. Ignition wires weren't really my concern at the time so I wasn't paying it much attention.

Where is the wiring for the ignition switch?

The ignition wires are in the black plug above the grey plug

Right! Now I remember. The big grey plug at the bottom of the photo is for the steering wheel (horn, signals, etc.). Disconnect that and you can pull the entire assembly out of the column. Slide the new one in, reconnect and put the steering wheel back on.
