steering control valve an steering cylinder slave hoses

    Hi , I have a ford Maverick 1974 two doors, I change my old power steering control valve an steering cylinder slave by a new classic Ford a mustang 67-70 Flaming River Steering power control valve and cylinder, but I dont not the right position of the two small hoses.....help me!

    Hi revatoons,

    I'm sorry I don't have the answer for you, but here's what I would do:

    1) Check the bends in the hoses to see if they will guide you to place them in the correct position. If not,

    2) Go ahead and install the hoses. Fill the power steering system with fluid. Then, start the engine and turn the steering wheel. If the power steering seems to be fighting against the wheel, then the hoses are installed incorrectly. If this happens, unhook the hoses and re-install them in the opposite position.

    I realize unhooking and re-installing will be kind of messy (with fluid all over), but you won't hurt anything by testing it - even if you get the hoses installed incorrectly the first time.
