So I’ve upgraded the entire suspension; SPC UCA, PTP LCA/Adj Strut Arm combo, Viking Coilovers up front, Adj rear shocks, HD sway bar and added a sway bar to the rear, subframe connectors. Got the car aligned today per Open Tracker’s Street Performance specs. At speed the steering still feels like it needs something. It’s way better, but still feels somewhat squirrelly when accelerating and when going over not ideal road surfaces at speed, some bump steer maybe. When steering I can move the wheel a bit, maybe an inch or two before it responds.

The car was once a power steering car when powered by the 6cyl and has been converted to manual, haven’t looked to see what box I have. Does this sound like a steering box issue if all of the other steering components seem to be tight, or is there something else going on? I’m hoping for steering that feels confident and responsive to my input instead of it doing it’s own thing. Thanks

How much Caster is in it? Could be the box is a little loose but Caster helps a lot.

Its probably ok if it's closer to 3.5. you might tighten up the box just a bit.

I’m going to research on how to do that.

Does it still have the PS valve/coupler assembly?

If coupler(rag joint) is spongy, steering will be delayed in responding.

When box needs adj, there will be free play in steering.

Adjusting the steering box is easy. If it's been converted to non-power steering, the drag link should be for a non-power steering car. Make sure it is. Of not, there will be slop in the steering...
