Why does a reply to a thread needs to be at least 10 characters long? Sometimes only 1 or 2 are needed, then I have to fill in with garbage.

How did I do that? Just press down the space key for a couple inches and hit the period key. The spaces use up the extra needed characters .......... ;)

So why is the period not "a couple of inches" away from the end? Huh? Huh? Huh?

To prevent one word answers and SMS speak. You can always pad your reply with a smiley or two if you are under the 10 character limit.

:hmmm: So what's wrong with a one word answer? Sometimes that's all it takes.
