Does anyone have a picture of a stock 4 bbl Mav/Comet air cleaner, circa 73? I would appreciate a peek at it, as I am trying to disguise my new 4v set up to be stock. Charles 73 Comet
Here is my 4V sleeper .... Since Mavericks never came with a 4V you need to get it from a Torino, Mustang, etc ... A 1973 would have a Vacuum operated snorkel ... I have the correct Mechanical one in my 1971 .. http://mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=5777
Love your new engine compartment. I am trying to get away from the usual Ford air cleaner, but yours looks so good, that I will probably do it. I am, giving some thought to whacking the bottom of the 2v cleaner so it will fit over the Holley 4v. I have a very original 73 Comet, with 9500 miles, and am changing the color to red. Everything has to come apart, and I must have 50 sandwich bags with various screws and oddities. Tomorrow is the oven cleaner. Tues is the painter. Wed the heads go to the porter. and I will have a couple of weeks to clean up all the parts, bolts, brackets, etc. Do you come to the NPD show at Silver Springs, in Jan? Charles
The OEM Ford 4V Air cleaners will fit Edelbrock and Holley 4V carbs. I have an Edelbrock on my car. My car is still in the reassembly phase so I haven't made any shows yet Got any pictures of you car?
It's been a looong time, but I thought the Autolite 2 bbls had the same diameter top as a Holley? 5 1/8"?
plenty of hard copies, but no digitals yet, it looks like a ghetto cruiser, with splotches of primer. Gimme a month or so and it'll photogenic. The NPD show is Ford only and has several hundred cars. there were a dozen or so Mav/Comets. There are some pretty interesting Fords.
Yeah, the hole is the same, but the rear pump on the 4v carb interferes with the bottom of the 2v air cleaner. (ie the 2v has no rear pump).
