I assume they're stock anyway. I've seen them on stock engines. Mine are only on the exhaust valves. A couple of them are worn out so I'm thinking I need to buy a set. I've been unable to find any info on what size to get.

Also, are these really lash caps or more like "wear caps"? Do I even need them with roller rockers?

    Thanks

Hello, I was unable to find them for my 72,302. I had one that came a part on the road at 65 mph, I pulled the heads took them to the shop and the guy who did my valve job put in valves that don't need them. :character0182:

I think even with the roller rockers you should use them. The pressure is the same that its pushing on the valve, would probably mushroom the top of the valve without them. Newer valves are hardened and dont use lash caps. They were only used on the exhaust valves.

I am using them on my exhaust valves due to reduced base circle on the cam on exhaust lobes. I used Comp 621-16. They are 11/32" diameter and .080" thick.

How do these compare to the ones in this thread? Anyone know the measurements?

I replaced the ones on my wifes engine with one-piece valves. You can't buy new valves that use them.

Yeah, I know that's the way to go. But if I start thinking that way then I start thinking about head work, and then I start thinking I'd rather put the work into some GT40P or 351W heads. Then when I think about the cost of acquiring those and getting them right, I start to think aftermarket heads would make more sense. Then of course my cam's all wrong, and I'll have to open up the exhaust... Next thing you know I've gone from a Saturday afternoon replacing lash caps at a few cents apiece to maxing out a credit card, pissing off my wife, and taking my car out of service for weeks. Then I'll finally get it all together and have to explain to my sweetheart over a bowl of ramen why I must now change the gears in my rearend to match my new power band. And if I'm gonna do that I might as well make it a locker...
