I am having trouble finding out what color the stone guard ( the part between the bumper and the grill) and the headlight covers are suppose to be on my 1970 maverick, 6 cylinder. I have seen alot of these parts painted black. Some people tell me to paint them the body color. The original color of the mav is white. Also, is the grill suppose to be black. Thanks, Stuart
The Grabbers had the black headlight doors and grill. If you just have the standard sedan, the headlight doors and grill are argent, I believe. Basically don't paint them and leave them the color they are from factory (argent) if you don't want them black. Personally, I like the black. -Corbin P.S. I am not sure on the stone guard.... I am sure someone here can clear that up for ya!
the one on my 70 is painted argent and i know this car has never been painted so im guessing their suppose to be argent color
The Grabbers, Comet GT's, and Sprints had blacked grills, headlight doors and stone guards. The rest were argent on all pieces. Aaat least thats the way I've seen it on 73 & older. My opinion is the stone guard looks good in body color.
my grabber the headlight doors are black and my front stoneguard silver and the back one is painted the same color of the car.........but thats on a 75 the stoneguards are rubber,as far as i know the pieces have original paint on them. i am the third owner of the car and i bought it from my sister and had bought it in 87. but on yours i think they should be the same color as the body
