Is your car running at running temperature, 180 or so? After it has warmed up, turn your heater on full blast...air should be coming out of the vents pretty fast. Now reach under the hood and grab one of the heater hoses that go into the firewall, and it should be pretty warm, but not too hot to touch. Grab the other as well, it should be pretty warm too.

If they are both warm you likely have an issue inside the heater box, either the core or the flapper door. If they are not warm, the your problem lies more with the heater hoses, or water flowing through the thermostat housing/intake manifold prior to getting to the heater hoses. If one is warm and the other is not, definitely a blockage in your heater core.

Start with those and report back. Someone here will help you narrow your problem down.

make sure your "temp" cable is hooked up. there is an eye on the end of the cable that pops off if it doesn't have the clip on it. this is what opens the door to let the heat into the car...frank...:bouncy:

p.s. it might also be a geographic thing :yup: .

Does the air blow out of the floor vents? Is your car factory air? A new heater core dosent necessarilary mean its a good one.

Do you have a temp gauge on your car?
I was wondering if someone put a low temp thermostat in there sometime in the past.
Good in the summer, but not good in the winter when you want heat...
There are many good ideas floating in this thread, if they check out, look into a higher temp thermostat. Yours may be stuck open as well. This makes for a painfully slow warm up and low temps at all times.

    ...heat concern....

I think a person gets used to these new cars with their superb air flow, and when they get in a earlier built car (not just a Maverick).....they see a huge difference. Just my input/outlook.... Hotrod-Daddy

I never had an issue with mine. It was always nice & toasty inside when needed.
