I know there is two major companys that make them. Which one have most of you been using ?My 70 grabber got the jambs painted last night.Hopefully it`s going to get painted on saterday. Then I`m gona need stripes.Heres my next question I know the black on my car was flat on the hood and trunk .But I want to be able to wax it.would a satin be exceptable on the trunk and hood or maybe semigloss. Thanks Chris

Check out Dupont Hot Hues for the black ... used to be called Hot Rod Black ... now called Blackened. If you want to be able to wax it make sure the painter puts it on smooth. The factory paint was put on to feel like 220 grit sandpaper ... as long as your painter lays it on smooth you can wax it no matter whether you choose flat, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. Obviously if you want it satin he needs to put it on top of the clear if you are going with two-stage paint.

All of the major compaines (stencils and stripes, graphicsexpress, etc) use 3M vinyl so the choice is up to you ...

I think factory 1970 tape stripes were reflective ... you can save some money by going non-reflective if you don't care about originality.

Also ... all of the 1970 Grabbers I have seen had the rear of the spoiler and 1/4 panel extensions painted black as well. I don't particularly care for that looks but, again, required for originality if you want it.

My stripes must of been that faded .I didn`t think they where reflective like on my 71.And the black is gonna be on top of the paint like factory. It`s being painted old school single stage with clear mixed in on the last coat of paint.I don`t like the way the back is eithor but thats one of the things that make a 70 grabber different. What color is that dixie mav ?

On my 1970 Grabber I had the rear end and hood painted a semi-gloss black.

I had the top & hood stripe painted gloss black. Then clearcoated with the body color. I wanted to be able to wax it also...

i went to a gloss black paint with gold speckling in it for the hood and tail black. Not stock i know, but very cool. i was trying to somewhat match what the side stripes do at angles.

Why are the hood hinges standing "up"?

The engine bay was blacked out but the cowl was body color so I stuck them up in the air and masked them of when I masked of the engine bay.I know the right way was to take them off but I allready had the hinges set for the hood and I scared to nick the paint having to try to set them with the fresh paint.

Was your engine bay black from the factory?
