Wouldn't it be dangerous to put a subwoofer in the trunk since the gastank is there?

I really don't know if there's any problem with that or not, if you have an impact bad enough to rupture the tank, you'll have problems anyway. On the 71 and later Mavs, obviously it's not a concern, but I see you have a 69.5.

No more dangerous than the tail lights, back up lights, marker lights, trunk light, fuel gauge sender, and possible stereo speakers you already have back there.

As long as you dont play C&W or Rap it will work just fine.

    .

In order for it to be dangerous, you'd have to put enough stress on the face of the gas tank to make it deform (which would eventually cause it to rupture). I don't think there's a car stereo speaker in the world that could do that, and that's assuming that it was right up against your gas tank with no box, which it's not. Any speaker you want is perfectly safe. Now the question you have to ask is, how long will your ear drums last with that heavy bass?

    I have every size.....

I have had every size sub in mine, and sometimes several at once. Right now I have 2 12's and a 15. That's gonna change though usually I just have the 15. I had never even thought about it being dangerous. I've heard that in early Mustangs that if something ever did happen to the tank, the rear seat needed to be reinforced to protect you. But I think that if the tank blows, you won't need to worry about anything. EVER! I agree with mavman though, there isn't a speaker out there that could do that. SO now worrys! Preston;)

Twin 12s in full-size boxes in mine. (Full-size spare, too.) No problems, and my Alternative Rock sounds just ducky!

i am always trying to lighten up my car not put more stuff in the trunk. especially everytime i go to the track it would be to much to take out and let sit on ground while i made a weekend run....i agree with wanting good sound but with my 2 5 1/4's and my 2 6x9's with an amp mounted under the rear decklid it sounds just peachy for anytype of music, c&w, rock, blues, crap i mean excuse me rap. lol ok take care ~Dan~

Take speakers out for drag racing? Why in the world would you do that. It's not like we are driving imports and don't have the power to race without taking out our stereos, seats, carpets, and anything else possible. Ileave my whole custom stereo set-up in the trunk when I race, the sub box for 2 10s, ampracks on each side of the trunk, sub box cover to blend in with ampracks, I even leave the shiny blue bottle and brackets in the trunk when I race. Maybe hitting the 11 second mark would be easier if I took out the stereo and interior but what fun would that be?

So what's wrong with just using that single speaker on the dash? :D

Got to admit: Paul Harvey would never sound the same if his voice didn't come out of the dash speaker!
