HI guy's. I have been to the track for a total of 13 passes. The engine is running strong without a glitch so far. The adjustable clutch is something new to me and I have been dialing it in. I started with 1200 #'s and it is now down to 875#'s with no slippage. The car has run a best of 6.57 @ 103 in the 1/8. I am changing to a more seat pressure on the valve springs because I think the valves are bouncing costing some HP. The car is leaving well but seems to like more air pressure in the slicks than I expected. I started with 8.5 #'s and reduced to 7 #'s over several passes and looking at the video the lower pressure makes the car hit the tire too hard mashing the sidewall and putting the wheelie bars on the ground all the way through 1st without barely lifting the front tire off the ground. The best 60 ft so far is 1.44, needing some work. I have made several adjustments for the next time out which is S/SS combo race Ohio Valley 7-9-05, hope to see some of you there.
i'd kill for a 1.44 60'. i'd be happy in the 1.60's. sounds like the car is really coming around. hwhat does that translate to in thhe 1/4?
Looking good Ashton! Very sweet, I think the cars a lot more in it. Just needs seat time and tinkering time. Don, 1/8 mile time X 1.5832 =
That's great Mr. Ashton!! I know you are excited!! I'm excited for you!! Knowing you, I know that when you call it done, it will be the best it can possibly be. That car is just unbelievable!! Y'all need to see this car to truly understand all that has gone into it. Just WOW!!!! Go get 'em Mr. Ashton! Good Luck!! Preston
Thanks! Thanks for all of the interest! Terry, the class is SS/CS, which is a modified stock class. The Maverick does not fit well into SS/l or M secondary to the 2 barrel carb on the 302. Sorry that it takes me sooooo long to post replies. My work schedule can be demanding at times. I will report on my next race. Ashton
