Went to the track Wednesday to try and get the chassis ironed out. 1st pass--- no adjustments to get a base line 6.82@100 (pulled to the right) 2nd pass--- Adjusted on ladder bars 7.25@97 (blew the tires off at the line) 3rd pass--- adjust air pressure (1 pound out) 6.74@100 (little straighter, still pulled right) 3rd pass--- adjust air pressure (1/2 pound out) 6.74@100 ( very little to the right) 4th pass--- ladder bar adjustment 6.74@100 (almost straight) 5th pass--- 1 click softer driver rear 6.73@102 (straight enough to argue why it wasn't straight) 6th pass--- slight ladder bar adjustment 6.78@100 (went to the left a little) * now the last adjustment we made.....I am going to leave it like that for my next run, if it still goes left I will put it back to the previous pass....it was just enough right that it could have been me....not in the groove. Plus the car in the other lane had issues after the burnout and I had to sit after burnout a little longer than the previous runs. Once this is "taken" care of..I will start working on e.t. tune-up.
Thats what made me the happiest I know "some" of that has to do with the driver. My biggest concern with trying to get the car figured out was whether or not I could consistantly do the same thing run after run (considering my crusty, rustiness), but I feel I stayed consistant with the burnout, staging in the same spot, launch rpm's and shift points. The last run was off .04 because I was a little surprised when it went to the left and I actually lifted for a split second o yeah, in case anyone is wondering, all these passes were in the same lane.
Howdy John, Those are still some very good times. Maybe you should have changed lanes after the first pass so you could rule out the track since you was pulling to the right....Just my
I thought about that Tim ....but when I made the 1st pass and it did exactly the same as it did in both lanes at Windy Hollow, (this T&T was at Ohio Valley)....I figured I was safe to stay in that lane until it was going straight. Plus that is what Darren (chassis builder) said to do and he makes me nervous J/k it is somewhat nerve racking to know the guy trying to get you squared away is a better driver than I am
Bitchin times!!!! When are you gonna make it up here for a bracket run ar ThornHill? You may just have a chance to win with those consistant numbers
I lost in the semi finals at Ohio Vally Raceway in 1999 at the Door Slammer Nationals because the right lane runs .002 faster than the left lane does. I broke out by .001. I had been running in the left lane all day and got put in the right lane in the semi's. It sucked but Taking 3rd is better than nothing. If you were there I was running my 71 Grabber, Brown over Black.
Very cool. I'm trying to get my 60' times more consistent too. Do you think your front end being really low helps your weight transfer or do you think it hurts? I would like to lower my front end a little, but I don't want to mess up the chassis setup too much. There sure are a lot of variables...looks like you got yours worked out pretty good though and are very consistent, time to start winning some races huh.
Wow, especially impressive since you have not exactly had alot of seat time this year, plus new motor. Dan
lowering the front I am sure has hurt my 60's..... I am thinking about testing the theary before the year is up....getting some uncut 6 cylinder springs and seeing what the difference will be.
