Tail Light Differences ?

Anybody know why the reverse light section of the lens has a red boarder as though the clear part of the lens is smaller than the bezel area ? The left lamp is NOS that I purchased in pieces . The right side I purchased as a complete assembly and it does not have that issue.

 

I believe it has to do with when the lights were produced. The early Comets had a smaller lens for a backup light, maybe the Maverick was the same.

 

1970 was large every other year was the smaller version.

 

Thanks guys ! I'll be on the hunt for a 70 left side lens.

 

I think you will need the early bezel to go with the early lens...something about screw location being different
