I've been checking on fuel injection conversions for quight awhile and was woundering if there is really any advantage to using a 4bbl tbi instead of the more abundant and cheaper 2bbl? I know the 4bbl has more flow but if I'm only pushing in the 300 to 350hp range is there any advantage? Also does anyone know if it's possible to run multiple tbi's in tandam? I had a idea once to use a dual 4bbl intake and run two 2bbls tbi's on it for a more balanced fuel mixture distribution the thing that stumped me is weather or not to run one or two computers? would I just split the connecters from one computer to the two tbi's? The goal in mind is to make a stand alone fuel injection system (maybe with the addition of a late model distributor for timing) that is affordable... Thank you.
if 300 to 350 hp is all your looking for run the 5.0 mustang fuel injection it will support that much hp brad
tbi is akin to pissing in the wind. the ford injection stuff will get you to 300-350 and be far more accurate than tbi.plus almost anyold junkyard will have all the pieces you need
Turbo City used to make a dual TBI set up that used GM throttle bodies. I didn't see it listed on their site www.turbocity.com but you may try contacting them to see if they still do it. I like the thought of it, the nostalgia of "dual quads" with modern injection.
Why are you considering TBI?? Its not much more efficient than a carb since the fuel distribution still relies on the intake runners. The fuel does get some benefit from the injector improving atomization of the fuel but its really not worth the cost and effort to go to TBI. You have to realize that the car manufactures did away with it in the mid to late eighties for the most part. Its archaic technology compared to multi port / sequential systems. If you want affordable I would only replace my carb with a factory 5.0 efi set up. That is worth the time and work involved over TBI. OF course the most affordable is a good old carburetor.
i know this another site but here is a link to a guy doing a dual tbi setup http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/general-discussion/performance/401442-dual-tbi-mockup.html
