well i went last night....june 3rd to the test and tune....was hoping to run 14.5 or better....didnt.....frustrated now

i dropped 70 pounds since the last time....14.5 95mph run ( a little colder but not much)

    last night i ran 14.9 14.7 14.9 14.8..... i dont get it....same gas used....110.............. tires set at 24.5 psi....timing wasnt changed....

we adjusted timing before the last run...but it didnt make that much difference

i am going to get the roller tip rockers and get them "professionally" adjusted before next trip....

i thought i was going faster....because this time i had to shift into 3rd about 200 feet before finish line..

    my slips are as follows
    60 foot time.....1/4 time....mph
    2.451 14.994 94.40
    2.241 14.721 95.36
    2.280 14.900 93.39
    2.368 14.823 95.20

i dont understand how i can run slower.....when i lost weight ...and everything else was the same
except the air temps.. it might have been 15 degrees warmer this time

    next time.

Almost went last night, would have got to see you run, decided to go see Mr. Graham tonight. Air temps would definitely affect it. Same amount of gas in the tank? New plugs? Air cleaner? Any spinning of tires? Windy yesterday, any headwind? Just trying to list anything I can think of.

io was the only mav there last night.....plenty of stangs....

    i actually flattened a trans am...by 2 seconds

    ummm..
gas mixture not exactly the same...i had 1/4 tank and then i put 3 gallons of 110 in it...so it had a little more weight in the tank than before...but i was still 70 pounds lighter overall...

plugs were the same...so they havent been changed... but they only have 1000 miles on them.... since i havent driven the car regularly in 3 months.. but the trip to the track is a good long one..and i kept the car at 70 mph the whole time...

    a little windy...yes...it was a cross wind...mph of wind...dont know

air cleaner is K7N and i should have cleaned it...but i didnt...only has 5000 miles on it...since new...i will clean it though..its a little dirty

tires always sspin...at the launch...but 60 foot times are decent...for my car...

i ran there last night and my times were definitely slower also. density altitude was quite a bit higher. the temp will also knock you down quite a bit. i think i should have added some jetting. i think you really need to get the rear end done and get some sticky tires to help your 60' times. also the 110 is only going to lighten your wallet at $6.25 a gallon, if you got it at the track. your best bet is to use high test from the pump. i use the 110 but i'm running over 11-1 compression. :) by the way, it was good to meet you at the track last night rick. how long did you stay?

    Twice

Watched you run the second time, and all the sportsman class. Kids were falling asleep, so went home. Talked to the Cougar guy and maybe got a line on some built 4v heads for my cleveland. Good fun, great talking to you and seeing your car. Hate to say it buy I loved that 57 chevy in front of you, watching him burn up the track with all that heavy metal hanging all over it is the kind of attitude I like. Sort of "screw it, it's heavy as hell and I'm still gonna go fast". Not that I'd ever OWN one. lol. A few Mavericks out there Sat. night, ST.

Have you jetted up the carb? I am betting there is some time in there somewhere easily found.

have you messed with your timing curve/advance?
There is so much that can be picked up from your timing....Mine is locked out. I usually run it at 38*, I tried it at 35* and it fell flat on its face.....not saying you should advance yours that far, but putting some in will really wake the car up.

i had the speed shop set up the initial timing...i am not very good at it...never been taught....i can point a light at it...and see where it is timed to....and i can turn the dist a little to get it to run better...but as far as the springs and all that stuff....NO IDEA./..its a MSD Pro Billet Distributor.... not sure model number....but the regular NSD dist for 302... with the larger cap on it...

this is why i need to meet people with the same type cars and setups...that way i can learn ...i like to learn from experieince rather than trial and error....usually when i do something trial and error..i mess it up...lol

i have put in different metering rods... thats about it...i cant find jets for it...and i wouldnt know where to go from where i am at....
i see that holley has a rods and jets kit for 65 bucks....does edelbrock have the same setup??

thats cool, when you get the chance to have someone help you with it, you will be amazed at the difference.
the numbers in my above post was almost 3 tenths with just a couple degrees of timing.
