We don't own a Maverick anymore. I grew up riding in one (My mom's maverick, bought new Dec 12, 1969, 1970 model) It had a six-cylinder with an automatic on the column. It had factory air, but, no power steering or power brakes. It had only 33,000 miles on it when she traded it in (not my choice, I was only 11 years old at the time) on a brand new 1984 Chevy Chevette. The Maverick was a lemon almost from the start and my mom dumped a lot of money into it over the years. The mechanic she always took it to (a crook) just fixed it long enough to last only for a week or two and then it would run rough again. If I knew then what I know now about cars, I would have that thing running in tip-top condition! I think it just needed the valves adjusted or to have the head rebuilt. To this day, I still miss that car! I did see that car about ten or twelve years ago with a new paint job, but haven't seen it again since. I hope it hasn't been crushed by now! I will send some pictures on it. (soon as I know how to)
welcome to the board. there's lots of mavericks out there if you want another. they are getting more expensive all the time. good investment.
I would like to own one again someday. I had a chance when I was 17, my neighbor had a '70 Maverick for sale and I almost bought it. He only wanted $100. It had been sitting in the driveway for many years; it didn't run and I thought it would be a good project and learning experience for me. It had a 250 and an automatic with no dents, it just needed to started and maybe some new brakes. It took me awhile to decide whether to buy it, because my Mom was against me buying it and I listened to her and then she finally gave in. The very day I went to buy it, someone beat me to it. Well, that's ok. A couple of months later I bought a '67 T-Bird and still have it today (in the garage) My daily driver is a '75 Buick Skylark whick I bought from my Grandmother that had only 41,000 original miles. It has been a great car!!!
