    Hey everyone,
Just wanted to write and say that my dad and I finally started my 302 that I have been building doing this and that to for the past 4 years (started in APR 2002) and finally it ran FOR THE FIRST TIME today. It sounded pretty gnarly through the open headers. Took a minute to get the timing figured out (its still off... did it by ear). We were nearing the end of the cam break-in when this wicked metallic click started happening... But luckily, it turned out the a roller rocker arm fell off. I thought I torqued them, but I guess this one I didn't? But anyway the pushrod checked out fine and the lifter was still good and primed. Just bumped the engine a little to put the lifter back on the base circle and adjusted accordingly. I think she'll be a nice lil bruiser when I get A TRANSMISSION FOR IT! sorry for the outburst. But it was great to hear it finally run and not have any major complications. I have started it numerous times tonight without a problem. It fires right up. The secondary float has a little issue with stickin, but I have had the carb for 4 years now.. and I think the speed demons had this issue when installed out of the box. All in all, THE MAV LIVES AND BREATHES!!!! VROOOM RACKAKAKAKAAAA

Congrats Kyle! I remember what it felt like when my motor fired up for the first time. I'm still glad I didn't have to break in the cam. I would have been all paranoid about the neighbors and my open headers. :D

Thanks everyone. I would love to bring it to the roundup but theres a bit of a problem. The mav is here in Illinois, and I am stationed in Fort Carson, CO workin for uncle sam until 2010. So, this car is going to be ONE LONG PROJECT. If I wasn't so far away OR I had something other than a parking lot to put it and all my parts, I would definitely bring it back. Gotta make some more rank before I'll be able to afford a house with a garage. But it's staying in my parent's garage so the elements shouldnt take their toll, and it should always be here for me to work on when I decide to take more leave... and there is plenty more to do... so much more to do lol!

Good Work, no betta feelin' than putting it all together and seeing positive results.
I recently got mine driveable, but still have electrical gremlins to get fixed hopefully next week (Crosses Fingers).
