It's alive! sorry if it's a repost. Looks F'n sweet! The surprising new car came from Don Bowles and the Roush camp. The Maverick is setup for Hot Street competition and has a Roush 396 naturally aspirated combination. The car was built over January and February and has not seen track testing prior to yesterday when the Maverick ran a 8.98 while spinning. The popular fad in the Roush camp is the marine pump that constantly rotates out cold water to drastically reduce engine temperatures between runs. He has been fighting spinning tires all weekend on every run he has taken his Hot Street Maverick down the track. To try and correct the problem the team took one round of shock out, added 3/8 in travel to one of front shocks. The next run the car stood up on the rear tires a little too much before heading toward the wall. After coming what seemed to be inching from the wall, Don let out and abouted the run. For the next run, they will be looking to find a middle sweet spot between the wheels not touching the ground and shaking all over the track. Bowles made it straight down the track in his Hot Street Maverick to an 8.84 @ 150.22. Robbie Blankenship needed a 8.720 to back up his 8.634 record pass from yesterday and if you guessed right, he ran a 8.720 @ 150.88 mph. A spread of .25 covers the naturally aspirated field. Video here! 5:00 minutes into this video - last pass http://video.stangtv.com/video_detail.php?mId=8320
thats sweet! 8.90's outta the box is......ok I guess That should really get the maverick movement running fast
That thing is awesome! I'm just a little disapointed.... I haven't been able to buy up a few more clean mavericks , with that thing out there the rush will be on for everyone to get one of their own...I've been gathering parts for mine and have been doing well with it,got all the factory V-8 swap parts, and just found a 77mav./ comet to get disc brakes and 5 lug 8" rear, on tues. if I can make it over to get them this week but if not next week, and I've been toying with the Idea of making one a drag/braket car instead of the 87 notchback mustang I have.. just haven't found another one clean enough for the wright price at the wright time...well I think we all have that problem... now it just got harder... it is an awesome car though, and cars like it keep me motivated. ah someday.
I think I looked at it online over the winter, (again the bracket car thing) I think it was blue with a liberty in it?? I bought a new truck in sept. and when I seen it , I would have liked to have gotten rid of my old truck to be able to pay for it...around 13k? I still havent sold the old truck 2001 Z-71, around 13k? well glad it went to a great team and good to see it finnshed if it is that car..?
