depending on how motivated iam tomorrow im going to do a test fit with the 351W into the 72, but i dont have my mounts yet so it wont be perment. i dont have spark plugs yet either and from what ive read i think those need to go in the motor before the motor goes in the car but i was thinking... i better make sure i have actuall maverick v8 manifolds on it first can anyone make an ID thru these pics? i can get some cast #s off 'em tomorrow.
Look at the casting numbers of the manifolds. The left side is a 351W piece the right looks like a late 70's to mid 80's piece. Thick as it is, I think you'll have problems with it.
aw damn really? i was told these were stock maverick ones? they came off a 302 that i got from sam m out of his 77 mav
pics of ci headers, Notice the casting numbers. The date codes are a few years different but the pattern numbers are consecutive.
The passenger side one looks different than the ones, I've had. If you want to wait till tomorrow, I'll pull a set out of the attic and take some pictures for you.
hmm looks like ive got the wrong piece on the pass side then...? the pass side one is really tight on the motor so i might get lucky i'll figure it out for sure tomorrow i guess
I have had a Maverick with 351W in it and factory manifolds. Just a heads up....it required pounding in the shock towers.
Not so.I can't prove it,because I didn't copy down cast #s,but I did have one w/a 351W,stock manifolds and the towers were not cut/beat up or anything like that.I will say that the manifolds had a C as the first digit in the cast #,so I'm assuming they were some 260/289 pieces.
The manifolds I have that came with my 77 were identical to these. The right side has the same engineering numbers(C6OE-9430-F, date coded 6H31) but the left is a D1DE-3431-AA with a date code of 2G7, They are not however original to this car, the original 6 banger was replaced with a junkyard 302 from an 89 pickup dressed with Maverick/Comet accessory parts.
