Yep, 28 spline. They are good axles, we used them in our cars for 10 yrs, with best 60' of 1.44 in a 2800 lb car. As far as gear ratios, you'll be happier with 3.25 or even a 3.00 on the street, but I wouldnt go much deeper than 3.55, especially with smaller tires. With 4.11's the rpm @ 60 mph would be near 3400 with 25" tires.

    Stangman,
you have to decide what kind of driving you're going to do in it. With an intake/carb/exhaust, i'm guessing you do more daily driving than drag racing. For this reason, i would stick with 3.55's (or less). I'm guessing from your name that you have something along the lines of a '99 mustang, correct? Keep in mind that our Maverick transmissions do not have overdrive like your mustang...in other words, it's like leaving your mustang transmission in fourth (5-speed) or Drive (auto). I don't know if your car does or if you've ever been in a newer stang with steeper gears (3.73's are the norm), but you're running some pretty high rpm's in fourth on the freeway, and you'll get some dirty looks from grannies with overdrive.
Besides, if you go with 3.55's and big tires you'll be just about right for around town--switch to a smaller tire and you've got a good weekend car. With 4.11's you've pretty much got a good weekend car period.
