Don't know if it's been mentioned here or not, this month's Muscle Car Review (March) has a back page story on "Forgotten Ford Facts" and offers up a few paragraph about the prototype "Boss Maverick" Ford developed. Before everyone starts groaning there's an actual promo photo from the collection of former Mercury Racing Head Fran Hernandez included in the story to add some legitimacy. No details are provided as far as what the actual combo may have been (it was likely only one of many such ideas dreamed up by the design teams of the day) but the photo appears to be of a completed car. Amusing if nothing else.
