If that was the Picture Holder thread, I just started that yesterday so that I could PM a picture to another member. I told him to save the picture and let me know, then I came around this morning and deleted the thread to free up the attachment space.

So, you probably clicked on it right after i deleted the thread.

It was just a picture of my carburetor up close so he could see how the linkage attaches and how the bracket is mounted.

Another option would be to create a category for the image in your Gallery.

I wanted it to be a temporary picture. It was definitely nothing that anyone else would want to see.

When I post the pic, I wrote something along the lines of "this is a temporary picture to attach to a private message to a member, and I will delete it once the member downloads it."

Of course, someone posted a response about loving having an old Torker289 intake!

I could have emailed the photo, but did not have the member's email address, and did not want to wait til we could PM back and forth in order for me to get it. He lives WAY across the lake. Just quicker to pm with attached photo, and delete the next day when he said he got it.

I can do that, but again, didn't want to keep this photo. It was of no real substance. And quicker to upload here than to ftp it to my website.

Filezilla is very fast to load...then drag and drop. Heck of a lot faster than creating a new thread and waiting on different pages to load and searching for the file to upload

I doubt it, I wonder how many people clicked on it because it was in New Posts. I know I did, and loaded the pic. Looked for a minute and was annoyed to waste the bandwidth. And a good 30 seconds of my life wasted.

MSmith, just let me know your hourly rate, and I will send you a check for your wasted 30 seconds.

There were only 17 hits on it when I deleted it, and one other post from someone saying they loved their Torker289.

Looks like I wasted a sum total of 8.5 minutes of 17 peoples lives.

I still think I have wasted more on this thread.

It would have taken me more than 8.5 minutes to get off my Linux laptop, light up my lightning slow WindowsXP computer, copy the picture to it, log into my picturehost server, ftp the picture up and update the index page, then go back to my laptop and PM my buddy to go to my picturehost page and scroll through 45 pictures so he could find that one, then he could download it, PM me back that he downloaded it, and I could restart my WindowsXP computer a day or two later (buddy lives in Europe, so it takes a while for us to converse) and delete that photo from my computer, from my picturehost, and rewrite my index page.

So, see? Easier to post a temporary pic in a thread, and delete it later.

Unless we can add a way to attach pictures to PMs.
