doesn't take much. take them complete apart, down to the lenses. you need to get these CLEAN. i used soap/water and an SOS pad but be gentle with the pad or it will scratch it. once dried, just apply a light coat of black, non-enamel paint from a distance. after it dries, give it a look and decide if u want it darked, then repeat untill you're satisfied. afterwards i put these in my car and they still light up bright red so there's no worries about being pulled over for no tail lights. and i just painted my bezels black enamel after sanding with 1200 sand paper. hope this helps
Oh, I see. I thought you used window tint on the tail lights. Didn't know your painted them. I think Derrick (Maverickman) used window tint on his tail lights. Not sure how he did it.
well i thought about tint but one would need to sand the texture off of the lense in order to get the tint to stick. i like this way better
I used some sorta spray years ago, it was also from VHT but I thought it was made just for tail lights, worked great never came off. It was this stuff: http://www.vhtpaint.com/products/sfID1/7/sfID2/34
and since the '73's tail panel was originally black (and will be repainted that color), i think it would just look awesome
