tiny holes in hood

so there are these tiny holes in the front lip of my hood. It's an origonal 71 maverick hood. It kind of looks like some sort of trim or decal is supposed to be mounted there but I don't see them on other people's in the gallery. Do people just bondo them in or is this unique to my little spawn of satan? (me and the mav have been having a rough few days...) I'll try and post a pic if this doesn't make sense.

 

are you talking about where the hood lip trim should be?

 

IF there is 8 of them, its a hood off a later model. (75-77) They had FORD across the front face of the hood. If not, might just be rust holes. If so, what you see is a fraction of what is there. Time to look for another hood or patch that one.

 

yup. there are 8 of them. jebus christmas. thanx. they are denitely not rust holes. too clean and well placed. definitely drilled. was trying to post a pic but I guess that's it.

 

here's pics of it... I guess I'll bondo. I don't really want a ford emblem on the car.

 

Just weld them and grind them.....otherwise the bondo will fall out.

if that is the case then it might just have to get painted with the holes. I don't have welding equipment available until I get back up the mountain. I want to weld a massive cowl to the hood in the near future anyway so it would need to be repainted just the same. I'll just do all of the welds then. Your talking about filling the holes, not welding separate pieces of metal to them right, or do I have to stick like a nail or something in the hole to weld to? I'm not a welder, my buddy does that stuff. (shh, don't tell...but he's not much of a welder either so I'm just checking.)

 

any body shop that you take that hood to get painted should be able to weld them up. i dont think that it would cost that much more.

 

Yep, them are script holes.

 

Easiest way to feel them is put the F O R D back across it lol i kinda like it but im true ford person..

Would members here suggest drilling holes to add script emblems? Or would you cut the posts off and use some sort of adhesive?

 

I'd drill holes,over using any type of adhesive.You can buy the F O R D letters at just about any mustang supply house,and they come with the little mounting"capsules"that the pins will go into.When you drill,use a q-tip or a tooth pick dabbed with a little etch primer to cover any exposed metal,and seal the holes against moisture.

 

It's the maverick emblems I'm looking to mount (one on each side of the car).

 

I would still drill instead of using glue.You can still buy the inserts by themselves that the pins go into.
