when i bought my car it came with centerlines.i got cragars real soon after that, they were 14x 7 in front and 15 x 10 in back.i always wanted deepdish 15 x 10 in back and15 x7 in front. i wasnt going to make any kind of move until we got the car rebuillt.i bought the 15x7 along time ago and they sat in a box.when we reworked the front of my car i bought new coils for a 8cyl,maybe should have bought used ones or,i should have bought 6 banger coils cause it sits too high even with a 302 in it,maybe we'll cut a coil out this spring,i dont know.what i do know is i wasnt going to do anything till the car was restored .there's a nice set of deepdish15 x10 on ebay right now that i've been looking for for a long while! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290501334731&viewitem= but i need someones knowledge on the whole thing.the size, backspacing, bolt pattern are in the listing.theres noway i want the car to look like a frigg'n rollerskate the way the kids did 5 to 10 yrs ago.i'm just looking ti fill up the wheel weel ,and give the car a meatier stance with the wider ties in back and those long over due tires in front. bandctack@aol.com bandctack@aol.com
This prolly won't help a lot but I know you have to be careful with the "deep dish" rims on our Mavericks "Deep Dish" equates into very little back spacing and that equates to tires poking out past the fenders and rubbing on the fender wells. I am pretty sure that most guys that run really wide tires like 275's on the back run 4.5 backspacing, but I think most of them run 8 inch rims but of course this is NOT coming from experience. Ask Rayzorsharp I am pretty sure he is running about as wide of a tire/wheel combo as you can get under the rear of a Maverick.
rim craig these are 10s.not to bad eh.maybe if i cant go wider, is there a chance i can taller i'm concerned when i put those new 15x7s on thr front the backs are going to look to small.heck i dont know.just trying to get input cause if it looks bad or is unsafe they wont take them back after theyre mounted.anyone know if they make a 10 inch deep dish?and is it mandtory i have 4.5 inches of backspacing
"Deep Dish" is not a style. It is a result of backspacing. If you are using the same width of wheel, with the same backspacing, you will have the same amount of "Dish". The closer the hub is to the inside of the wheel, the bigger the "Dish" you will get, but the farther it will stick outside the wheel lip.
rims for one theyre really starting to pit.i have to stay up on them all summer.if i let them go for a month the rust spots keep get harder and harder to get out.i'll be down past the chrome for long.call me lazy but i want new rims. look closely at my back rims then look at the ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290501334731&viewitem= and you'll see that mine are not what we called deep dish.please remember guys i ALWAYS appreciate your input.ive got the room in the wheel well to go bigger.maybe i'm going to have to put the 15x7s on the front to get a guage cause theyre going on in the spring.those are 14x7 on there now.ive got way to much well in front and dropping the back once i put the 15s on the front is out of the question.not sure how many wedge guys are out there but your talking to one. i live in illinois and from the age of about 17 to 20 i recieved 3 tickets for just that.the stink'n cops would litteraly walk up to my back bumper, measure by putting his finger on his knee where the top of my back bumper would hit it, then keep his finger on his knee and walk to the front of my car.god as my witness i sh*T you not.more than 3 inches or more and he was writt'n.so i'd let the air out of the shocks and pump them back up in a couple days.it was a 74 on top of it with the big bumpers
Bob...the ones on the back of your car have a "stepped" design to them, which is why I think you say they are not a deep dish. To an extent...you are right.....they are not the TRUE deep dish wheels like the ones from our youth. I think the ones in the ebay auction are also a "stepped" design and will look just like the ones you have.
yep youve got a point craig.i'll search all winter for some true deep dish.if i stick out a little width wise so be it, ive got the room and i think it'll tougher i need a backspace of 4.5 and a unlug rim(ideally right?)i'll go as tall a tire as will fit, cause i gotta catch up with the front, you guys have been a great deal of help as always.gotta work tom,so HAPPY THAHNX GIVING TO ALL AND YOURS!!!!BEST REGARDS BOB TACKETT
Sure we aren't talking "reverse" here? You can get Cragar SS's in standard or reverse.(the profile of the rim cross section is reversed from what is standard OEM) BITD many people refered to these as Deep Dish.
Yes....that is what we are talking about. Unfortunately for Bob.....Cragar no longer makes a true "deep dish". All of their reverse wheels have a stepped design, due to the spokes all being the same length whether it is a 14" wheel or a 15" wheel. If you want a wheel WITHOUT the stepped design.....you have to get a 14" wheel. I have 14" wheels on my car. I bought these brand new about 4 years ago.
I had some of the old 70's 15x10 SS's with the true reverse, also had a set of the rare 15x3.5" SS's too. Wish I hadn't let them go with the car they were on. Those 3.5" wide SS's are very hard to find. Most didn't survive the 60's and 70's
Oh yeah, by the way.....I LOVE Cragars!!!! I have another set besides these!!! Going to do something with them someday.
