Took my car to AAMCO today

    Had a friend of mine look at it and he told me that the car actually has a C3 in it. I always thought my car had a C4 on it. But anyways, apparently the C3 on my car is close to dying and he told me finding parts for this thing are going to be hard and will cost a lot of money.

    I don't know much about trannys and would like to know about this C3 and if you guys think I should switch on over to a C4.

    A lot can happen in the 40 years our cars have been around. If they looked at it and said its a C3 then it probably is. I would find a C-4 and put that back in.

    my suggestion, get the numbers off it and de-code them. that would be difinitive
    somewhere I have seen a page where they show the shape of each different pan gasket for each kind of trans. I'll look for it.

    Just got a call back from them and yeah, believe it or not it was a C3. My guess is that the owner before me put it on there. For whatever reasons I have no idea why.

    But anyways, can someone do me a favor and link me to any place that sells a pretty good C4 tranny? And I'm hoping that it also comes with the torque converter.
