I just took out the 200 6 cyl and 3spd out of my 77 Maverick. I have a 302 and toploader 4 speed to go back in. My questions are what kind of problems am I going to have with the Z-Bar and linkage. I would like to hear from people who have done the switch. What suggestions and tricks you would give to me. I of course have the orignal Z-bar and linkage and also have the 2 piece Z Bar. Thanks and hope to hear from some of you.

As long as you have all of the parts the swap is pretty easy. Toughest part is getting the z-bat in with the headers.

You need the frame and engine mounts to go with the Z bar. They are different between the 6 cyl and V8. If you have all the parts, its a pain in the ass to get them in there but not impossible. If you dont have the mounts, you can modify the 6 cyl z-bar to work with the 302. Thats what I did the first time I did the swap.

I'm in total agreement with the above. I started out with the 6 cylinder linkage that I modified...then I searched out the original linkage. I didn't have any problems installing any of it. Have fun rowing the gears! There's nothing like it!
